Oily fish main source of Vitamin D
Research has shown that the average Vitamin D intake is insufficient. Vitamin D only occurs in food of animal origin. Oily fish such as herring, mackerel, salmon and eel are especially rich in Vitamin D. The Dutch Fish Marketing Board’s message to eat two portions of fish a week, and that one of these portions should be oily fish, is an excellent way to ensure that people obtain sufficient Vitamin D.
